THEIR CURRENT PROPOSED ROUTE IS GOING RIGHT OVER/ON OUR FARM. We are actively fighting to stop this project but need all the help we can get!!
Gopher to Badger Link is a proposed 765 kV powerline that connects the North Rochester substation to Marion and then on to cross the Mississippi River
It is part of a much larger project connecting South Dakota to Wisconsin, but is broken into multiple sections (WHY? An excellent question and one without a clear reason other than to make it really confusing thus harder to fight)
765kV powerlines are THE BIGGEST powerlines allowed in the states and are currently ONLY on the coasts (these would be the first built in the state of Minnesota)
They require a 250ft right-of-way easement and need 150-175 ft tall transmission towers spaced every 1200-1400 ft
Xcel says its for the green transition and to make the grid more stable BUT conveniently this goes right by Pine Island’s propsed data center
